Martin Crewe - Director of Barnardo'sMartin Crewe, Director of Barnardo’s Scotland

At Barnardo’s Scotland our purpose is to reach out to the most disadvantaged children, young people, families and communities to help ensure that every child has the best possible start in life. We aim to make sure that every young person is able to reach their full potential, whatever their life circumstances.

In this challenging financial climate we will all have to work harder to safeguard the future for Scotland’s children  – and that’s why I’m attending the Children’s Summit today.

I will be joined by 150 senior staff from Scotland’s main providers of children’s services who are gathering in Edinburgh to focus on improving outcomes for children.

After a day of frank discussion hosted by Education Secretary, Mike Russell and Deputy First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon the Summit delegates will agree and sign a pledge setting out how we will work together to share resources and expertise.

You can take a look at the pledge we’ll be signing here:

Children’s Summit Pledge

I will be signing it because Barnardo’s Scotland is committed to working in partnership with statutory colleagues to achieve the best for children.

What would your pledge be if you were signing up to making sure Scotland’s children are safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, responsible, respected and included?

How would you work more effectively across and between organisations to effect the changes needed?
