As we reported last week a there is a new government campaign to encourage parents and carers to play, talk and read to their young children to help give them the best start in life was. The drive, announced by Scotland’s Children’s Minister Adam Ingram, includes a series of roadshows and the first was at the Gyle Centre in Edinburgh.

It proved a colourful affair, as the photos below show, and visitors were impressed by the breath of the campaign commenting:

The kids and I have had a brilliant time and I’ve picked up some great ideas for activities to do with the them. The wee ones really loved the nursery rhyme sing-a-long with the Book Trust. It’s just plain fantastic!
