We are 11 Advanced Higher Physics pupils from Gryffe High in Houston, Renfrewshire and we are just back from Geneva where we visited the CERN Facility.

Our visit coincided with the Cabinet Secretary’s and at one point there was a great deal of interest in us when people realised that we were Scottish and asked if we were with the VIP!

We were amazed at the information that we received and the level of research that is taking place and found the whole visit both fascinating and informative.

The whole class has been saving for this trip since the start of last term (including fund raising by baking cakes with physics formula iced onto them and selling them at the school Christmas Fayre!).

Our physics teachers Alan Whyte (who organised the trip) and Patricia McGeough both agreed that CERN was an invaluable experience for the group and one that we will all remember for a long time to come.
