Tam O’Shanter is nation’s favourite
A new poll has revealed that Tam O’Shanter is the nation’s favourite Robert Burns poem for Burns Night.
In the Year of Creative Scotland 2012, Tam O’Shanter came top of the list for almost a quarter (23 per cent) of adults surveyed in a YouGov poll, followed by A Man’s a Man for A’ That in second place (17 per cent).
Speaking ahead of this year’s Burns Night celebrations, Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs Fiona Hyslop said: “Robert Burns is Scotland’s greatest cultural icon, recognised and celebrated all around the world. The results from this poll show that our national Bard still holds a special place in the nation’s heart.”
