Scotland and PISA 2012 – submit your questions
During the coming days, about 3,000 pupils in over 100 schools in Scotland will be receiving invitations to take part in the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).
If you’ve got a question about PISA, you can find out more information in our frequently asked questions, and for this week you can also ask Scotland’s representative on PISA’s Governing Board by submitting a question in the comments below.
Q: @CatMill on twitter asked:
“Could Scotland follow Finland’s lead to ditch content-focussed TIMSS & focus on pedagogy & skills analysis via PISA? #ScotPISA @engagefored”
A: Mal Cooke, Scotland’s represetative on the PISA board replied:
”Hi Cat, Actually Scotland has already pulled out of TIMSS and PIRLS. This was in order to reduce the survey burden on schools, and we agreed that PISA was the most suitable assessment to keep.”
